Public Key Cryptography
Asymmetric math lets anyone encrypt or verify with a public key while only holders of the private key decrypt or sign. SSH, TLS, and X.509 chains rely on this split to bootstrap trust. Plan migrations toward post-quantum algorithms as standards mature.
